Aaron Groat
Member at LargeAaron was raised in Markham, ON and worked for a couple of summers at Medeba in the early 1990’s. Medeba was a place that really helped him see that God could use him to make a difference in other’s lives. Aaron could not escape God’s leading to pastoral ministry and has served in churches in London, ON and now, since 2012, he gets to lead a great group of people at Calvary Baptist Church in Burlington, ON. Aaron has been married to Joleyne for 25 years and we have two kids, Bronwyn and Parker.
Dennis Hancock
Member at LargeDennis Hancock is a founding partner of PerformanceSPARK, a performance sciences firm that helps organizations identify and focus on what’s important to drive measurable performance growth.
Dennis’ sales and marketing leadership spans across a variety of industries including tech, automotive, biotech, telecommunications, retail and financial services. Known for his passion towards understanding what motivates and authentically engages people, Dennis has helped numerous companies bridge the gap between their brand promise and brand experience.
Dennis attends Connexus Church in Barrie, Ontario. He is married to Shara and they have three children, Troy, Lauren and Lily.
Lara Hartman
SecretaryLara Hartman is a Strategic Business Planner with the Ontario Provincial Police. During her time with the OPP she has enjoyed a variety of roles including being the Finance Lead for the Pan Am Games.
Lara has a real desire to give back and partner to assist people of all ages and paths to find success and happiness in life. While raising her family, she has taken many sign language courses and is currently using her skills to interpret during Sunday morning church services.
Lara attends Emmanuel Baptist Church in Barrie, Ontario. She is married to Ed and they have three children, Zachary, Katelyn and Mikayla.
Amanda Smith
TreasurerAmanda is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) who works in public accounting, serving charities and not-for-profits. She worked at summer camp at Medeba and did the Leadership Development Program (now called Prosago) from 1998 to 2003. She lives in Barrie, Ontario with her husband, Ryan, and two sons.
Andy Smith
Vice PresidentAndy Smith leads the Web Development team at Tyndale University where he has served since 1992. He is passionate about youth ministry and is involved in the youth program at his local church. He lives in Bradford with his wife Sandra who has also been involved with Medeba as a volunteer. Together they have two young-adult children.
Debi Speers
Member at LargeDebi has worked at Eagle's Flight for 24 years and is the Director of Facilitations. She worked at Medeba from 1987-1991. She has mentored high school aged girls through her church for far too many years to count… and loves it. She lives in Barrie with her husband Bob, and her kids Joey, Sarah and Grace.
Gary Trapp
PresidentGary lives in Haliburton with his wife Cindy where they enjoy hosting family and friends at their home on Maple Lake. Gary is a semi-retired CPA, CA after a career in Toronto and southern Ontario largely in the financial services sector. He is mission minded and has participated in several volunteer trips to Mexico, El Salvador and Malawi Africa. Gary and Cindy embrace Medeba and its mission to challenge young people to continually say yes to GOD.

Steve Archibald
Executive Director
Steve Archibald is the Executive Director of Medeba. He grew up going to Medeba starting as a camper in 1978, became a summer staff member in 1985 and joined the year-round staff team in a part time role in 1989. Steve has been full-time at Medeba since 1994. Steve spent a year at Tyndale College and then went on to complete his BCOM from Ryerson University. He currently serves on the Elders Board in his Church and within the broader Christian Camp Community in Canada. Steve met his wife Beth through Medeba and they live in Haliburton. Their children; Victoria, is in University and Rebecca, is in High School.
Bruce Dunning
Executive Advisor, Leadership Director
Bruce Dunning is the Executive Advisor and Leadership Director of Medeba. He joined the Medeba Year-round Staff team in 1980 and became director in the fall of 1981. Bruce is a graduate of Emmaus Bible College and Ontario Bible College (Now Tyndale). He served on the board of Christian Camping International (CCI) – Canada for 20 years and formally was the chair of the CCI – Worldwide board. He lives with his wife Glenda right beside Medeba and they are parents of 3 grown children. Bruce’s love for adventure in a Christian context led him to publish a book God of Adventure in 2012.
